Week-Long Themes with Special Enrichment Sections & Events

ABOUT SUMMER ADVENTURES:

Check out the themes, descriptions, and highlights for each week-long adventure! You can participate in every week without exact duplication. Even "adventures" with the same theme in past summers will have updated projects and activities.

 

Participation in the Full Day is recommended for the complete experience with time for a wider range of activities. Exact itineraries are NOT available in advance. All Summer Adventures are curated and adjusted for the student group to best meet their unique interests, skills, needs, and group dynamics. The weekly forecast will have a significant impact on our daily routine.

Special Section Rotations in music, dance, theater, outdoors, and more will be announced as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before each week starts. Students will have the option to choose participation (no extra cost or registration) or alternate activities.

OPTIONAL: Add Before/After Open Studio to extend the day and help meet the needs of your schedule! Extended Day Open Studio offers flexible 8am-10am Drop-Off & 4pm-6pm Pick-Up as needed. This is NOT structured/guided lesson time. Students will enjoy freedom within limits for their own projects and play. With a busy day getting creative, this unstructured time is often spent on puzzles, board games, pretend play, reading, or socializing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Packed Lunch/Snacks (peanut and tree nut free) required for Full Day and Extended Day options.

ADVENTURE ATMOSPHERE:

Ages 4yo-14yo invited! Enjoy a wholesome & friendly atmosphere with themes and collaborative activities that bring everyone together much like a family or community. Students will spend their time in break-out groups with dedicated age-appropriate spaces, activities, instructors, and expectations. With the students' best interest in mind, 3-4 age groups will be formed based on actual registration each day. Teens will enjoy a dedicated space to work.

 

Teens 14yo+ have optional opportunities to learn through guided leadership for part of their experience. Focus remains on FUN though, as we will be following their interests and inspiration to make sure they enjoy some of their final years as students before young adulthood. DETAILS TO COME.

 

Our team will be utilizing the indoor & outdoor spaces of Adventures & Art, including the Main Studio, Lounge, Loft, Choice Center, Stage, Creativity Garden, and Front Patio. A variety of seating and partitioning options allow flexibility to accomplish different activities.

Summer Week 1

Starting Monday, July 6th, 2026

Sections/Themes

All students will enjoy this week's DEEP SEA themes and a variety of activities, but section options help us plan small group rotations with specialized activities.

  • Deep Sea Adventure: Travel deep under the sea for themed projects, crafts, and play.

  • DKI Take2 Musical Theatre (performing): In addition to Deep Sea activities, this musical theatre experience features a musical written for kids/teens! Students will spend much of the week learning and rehearsing the musical to show off on Friday.

  • "THE JOURNEY OF THE NOBLE GNARBLE" (performed Friday) The ocean floor is filled with the rarest of creatures, but none are as rare as gnarbles. Their fins are small, their tails are floppy, and they have never strayed far from their homes…until now. Journey of the Noble Gnarble is a story of a little gnarble with a big dream, who tries to make it past doubting blyfish, sneaky subbalubbles, and hungry plinks on his way to the surface of the sea. Along the way he befriends the glinny glims who teach him the importance of positivity and determination!

  • All sections will spend time inside and outside. This week has both structured activities and open-ended time for kids to learn through play.

Starting Monday, July 13th, 2026

All students will enjoy this week's themes and a variety of activities, but section options help us plan small group rotations with specialized activities.

  • Colorful Carnival Adventure: Explore the wonders of carnivals with themed projects, crafts, and play.

  • Magic Tricks & Talents: In addition to Colorful Carnival activities, learn special tricks and talents from our great friend, Nick the Magician!

  • MAGIC SHOW (Friday PM) Nick the Magician is returning to our stage with another fantastic show to wrap up the week!

  • Sweet & Spicy Adventure: Enjoy food-themed projects, crafts, stage time, and play with both food and non-food materials.

  • LEMONADE STAND (TBD) Pending weather, students will set up and run a real lemonade stand!

  • EDIBLE PROJECTS (PM) Students will use food for fun crafts and activities, with the opportunity to eat it at PM Snack Break. If preferred, pack your own snack.

  • ICE CREAM SOCIAL (Friday PM) Families are invited to an Ice Cream Social to wrap up our foodie week!

  • All sections will spend time inside and outside. This week has both structured activities and open-ended time for kids to learn through play.

  • Fairytale Remix Adventure: Visit faraway lands and bring characters' stories to life with themed projects, crafts, and play.

  • DKI Heroes & Villains (performing): In addition to Fairytale Remix activities, this creative drama experience steps into a world where legacy is everything! Exploring two factions: the Heroes and the Villains. Students will work on performances that bring their characters' stories to life—whether it’s a tale of bravery, redemption, or cunning plans gone awry.

  • "HEROES & VILLAINS" (performed Friday) Enjoy a dynamic performance that brings the characters' stories to life—whether it’s a tale of bravery, redemption, or cunning plans gone awry.

  • Ocean Breeze Adventure: Set sail for projects, crafts, stage time, and play inspired by a mash-up of your favorite seafaring pirates and characters.

  • DKI Treasure Quest: In addition to Ocean Breeze activities, embark on an exciting journey across the seven seas! Students will step into the shoes of daring pirates, clever sailors, and mystical sea explorers as they navigate thrilling theater games, solve clues, and uncover hidden treasures.

  • Island Beats: In addition to Ocean Breeze activities, feel the rhythm with tropical-themed dance. Students will enjoy music from favorites like Moana, Lilo & Stitch, and more!

  • "TREASURE QUEST" Through storytelling, creative role-play, and games, students will develop their confidence and imagination while bringing ocean adventures to life on stage (nonperforming).

  • "ISLAND BEATS" (PM) Build strength and skills through fun dance warm-ups, activities, and choreography. No dance experience necessary. (nonperforming)

  • Jungle Jive: In addition to Into the Wild activities, feel the rhythm and wild beats with animal-themed dance. Students will enjoy music from favorites like Zootopia, Madagascar, and more!

All students will enjoy this week's themes and a variety of activities, but section options help us plan small group rotations with specialized activities.

  • Summer Finale Adventure: Wrap up the summer with a mystery array of projects, crafts, and play that don't follow just one theme but are fan favorites.

  • DKI Detective Academy: In addition to Summer Finale activities, students will become top-notch investigators...hopefully in time to crack the case. Using sharp observation and quick thinking, they'll unravel the mystery and solve "whodunit!"

  • "DETECTIVE ACADEMY" While hunting for clues, solving puzzles, and chasing down suspects, students will develop their confidence and imagination through role-playing and games (nonperforming).
